DC Enters Solar Field
Leap towards the field of Solar Power
Consequent to the announcement of the National Action Plan on Climate Change in June 2008, the Government of India has approved “Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission” (JNNSM) in January 2010 which aims at development and deployment of solar energy technologies in the country to achieve parity with grid power tariff by 2022. The objective of the National Solar Mission is to establish India as a global leader in solar energy by creating the policy conditions for its diffusion across the country as quickly as possible. Amongst the mission targets of JNNSM, generation of 20,000 MW solar power by 2022 is the aspect to be given due consideration.
Realizing the need for engineers and technologists in this new field of solar power DCPL has strengthened its Green Cell to undertake projects on solar power in India.
Jobs done / in hand on Solar Power
- DCPL takes pride in being associated with “Rabi Rashmi”, a Solar Housing Project in New Town (Rajarhat; Kolkata). The project was completed in mid-2008. This project is the first of its kind in India having solar PV panels fitted in each building that can utilize the power thus generated in-house or can export unutilized grid quality power to the local grid.
- Pre-Feasibility Report for a 5 MW Photo Voltaic / Solar Thermal Power Plant in Rajasthan for Shree Cement Limited in February 2010.
- Rendering technical services as Lender’s Engineer (LE) to YES Bank for a 9 MW PV based Solar Power Plant of CESC near Bhuj, Gujarat.
- Rendering technical services as Lender’s Engineer (LE) to Power Finance Corporation (PFC) for a 2 MW PV based Solar Power Plant of Sri Power in Sun City, Chittoor, A.P.
DCPL enjoys the advisory services in the field of solar power from eminent technologist and one of the pioneers in solar power in India, Dr. S P Gonchoudhuri, former Director WBREDA and ex- Managing Director of WBGEDCL.
